Here's a quick list of the top 10 ways you can bolster to your golf tournament—and in turn increase fundraising—by including fun on-course contests and add-ons. Need help planning a tournament? Expert tournament coordinators can help you every step of the way and help you put together and host a successful event.

  1. Selling Mulligans – Charge a set amount for mulligans (do-overs), and a limit to the number a golfer can purchase to keep it fair.
  2. Beat the Pro – There are multiple variations of this add-on, but the most common is played as followed: the Pro is set up on a determined par 3. The pro hits first and then each player can wager if he/she thinks they can hit it closer. If they hit it closer than the Pro, they double their money.
  3. Pro for Hire – This add-on has the Pro staying on a designated hole of any length. The group can pay a determined fee to have the Pro hit for them.
  4. Multiple Pin Hole – In this add-on, multiple pins are placed on a par 3 green. Players may wager if they think they can get a birdie on any one of the holes on the green. The prize can be monetary, like in Beat the Pro, or another gift.
  5. String it Out – Players may buy a piece of string (length determined by tournament) for a set price. This string may then be used during play to improve a player's lie or even void a stroke. At any point, a player may move the ball the length of the string or less, to any desired position. If the player uses less than the full length, they have to cut the amount used off. They then have only the remaining amount to use for a future situation in the round.
  6. Lob a Grenade – Players may purchase “grenades” that allow them to throw the ball one time, instead of hitting it with a club. A set price and number of grenades should be determined by tournament prior to play.
  7. Teeing Off from the Red Tees – Each group or individual may pay a set amount to tee off from the women’s tees on a pre-decided hole.
  8. Circle Hole – A circle is drawn around a Par 3 cup with a diameter determined by the tournament. Golfers have the option to gamble on whether or not they can hit it inside the circle. Prizes can be monetary, like Beat the Pro, or non-monetary.
  9. Putting Contest – Players pay a set amount to compete in the contest. Formats can vary from one single long putt to a multiple hole cumulative score to determine a winner. The prize will be determined by tournament prior to play.
  10. Orange Ball – Each team has the option to enter the contest for a set amount, before the tournament begins. Each team that plays receives an orange golf ball that must be used by a different golfer in the group on every hole. The ball must rotate consecutively amongst all golfers in the group. The object is to not lose the ball for the entire 18 holes. Any teams that complete the round with the ball still in possession are then entered into the drawing for a prize determined by the tournament.
