Whether you're a first-time planner or a pro, it always helps to have a checklist when you're thinking about what you need to do for your charity golf tournament. The following is a quick tournament planning checklist.

Have groups arrive on time—no later than 30 minutes before starting time and/or the first catering function.

✓ Alert the course on how the group will be arriving: via motor coaches, limos, vans, or individual vehicles.

✓ Write complete and legible names on each golf bag.

Provide each player with a pre-tournament agenda listing starting times, locker room usage, catered functions, and golf play details; plus which expenses are the responsibility of each golfer.

✓ Send the course the players list no later than 72 hours prior to the event.

✓ Notify and have delivered to the course all sponsor signs, welcome banners, tee markers, and contest prizes no later than 72 hours prior to the event.

✓ To avoid any surprise charges, make known to the course the list of persons authorized to charge to your group's account.
