Part of the mission of GolfTournamentManagement.com is to support and promote nonprofits and charities in need of funding and assistance by helping organize and host charity golf tournaments. In partnership with American Golf and the "Golf Gives Back" program, golf tournaments have helped numerous charities raise much-needed funds for their causes. Below are five of our favorite golf tournament charity success stories of 2013.

HOLA raised $86,000

at their 2013 Golf Tournament at MountainGate Country Club. For nearly 25 years, Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA) has been transforming the community by providing thousands of at-risk youth with free, exceptional programs in academics, arts, and athletics; including a world-class youth orchestra program, a vibrant and growing visual arts department, a full college-prep program, and sports leagues and clinics. HOLA offers youth the opportunity of break the generational cycle of poverty while developing their potential and pursuing their education.

Skylinks Golf Course hosted its annual Mayor’s Trophy,

which benefits the Long Beach Ronald McDonald House. In 2013, The Mayor’s Trophy was able to raise over $200,000 for the Long Beach Ronald McDonald House. Ronald McDonald Houses assist families traveling far from home and for long period of time while receiving treatment for their seriously ill or injured children. Since 1974, a network of local Chapters has been making children happier and healthier by keeping families together during treatment – giving them a place that feels like home to rest and refresh. Ronald McDonald Houses, tailored to meet the urgent needs of the community in which they serve, can now be found in 58 countries and regions across the globe.

YouthBuild Charter School of California raised over $10,000

for its Student Hunger Relief Fund at their 2013 Golf Tournament and Staff Appreciation Dinner at Brookside Golf Club. YouthBuild Charter School of California (YCSC) is a project-based charter school, rooted in social justice, for students between 16-24 years old who have dropped out, aged out, or been otherwise failed by traditional schools. The school's mission is to cultivate collaborative learning communities where every student has the right to an authentic education and plays a meaningful role in creating positive social change. YCSC partners with local YouthBuild organizations to provide students with counseling services, college preparation, leadership development, vocational training, and the unique opportunity to revitalize their communities while earning school credit by building low-income housing. YCSC currently operates 18 school sites at YouthBuild programs in Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, and Fresno counties. With over 2,000 students currently enrolled, YouthBuild boasts over 1,600 graduates since opening its doors in 2008.

Playing for a Purpose, an Atlanta based non-profit, raised over $15,500

for Bert’s Big Adventure at their 2013 Golf Tournament at Trophy Club of Atlanta. The 2013 tournament was the 17th annual event for Playing for a Purpose. The mission of Bert’s Big Adventures is to take chronically and terminally ill children and their families to Disneyworld for five days. The next trip is scheduled for the end of February 2014. Seascape Golf Club will host the 21st Annual Jordan & Kyra Memorial Foundation Charity Golf Tournament

on October 3, 2014. This annual event raises up to $45,000 in net proceeds thanks to the hard work and passion of the Seascape team and the support of the American Golf Foundation (AGF). Throughout the year, AGF Ambassadors donate their time volunteering at AGC courses across the U.S. to raise funds for the Jordan & Kyra Memorial Foundation, a non-profit organization that funds pediatric brain tumor research; as well as Family House, a non-profit residence for the families of children undergoing treatment for cancer at nearby medical facilities. Fundraising culminates each year with the annual tournament at Seascape, a treasured tradition where long-time and former AGC coworkers join with AGF Ambassadors, sponsors, donors, and friends for a memorable day of golf and fundraising that includes on-course contests, a silent auction, and an awards dinner.
